Full Moon (December)
The twelfth response is to December’s full moon on the 4th of the month. This full moon is known as the Oak Moon, the Full Cold Moon, the Moon before Yule and is the third super full moon of 2025 (Leendertz, 2024, p.265). It is said to unite and reassure and is the bringer of light.
In December I was still without my press and in building turmoil so this response uses cut pieces of paper in the sequence of the moon phases. It was quite difficult to cut them carefully enough. This is something I’d like to take into printmaking or stamping in the future perhaps.
I used the pieces and the StopMotionStudio app to make this stop motion animation that concentrates on the changing appearance of the moon rather than the position in the sky.
